Remember?
Warren Blair (Elementary School 6/62)
Was there anything more wonderful than a Sunday Mass in spring?
Well, maybe not the fidgeting through; but the exit-ing.
Monsignor’s bells (electrified) their joyous song would sing,
And as you walked beside your folks, you’d count the hour’s ring.
You’d let your hand flip-flop along, the short wall made of brick,
And look about to see who stopped for the boys who cried, “TAAB-Lih-T!”
Then the drive to get hot rolls (at a bakery where they’re made),
And the smell of bread and paper bags would take all day to fade.
You’d watch in awe as a cake box spun and the baker tied the string,
And knotted it so, she’d made an Art of such a simple thing.
Then two new comics (Superman) as an extra special treat,
With a breakfast fit for Royalty – the ritual complete.
