Newsday

April 2004 - Many visitors first learned of this site through notices I have gotten published in the weekend Newsday "Milestones" ("Reunions") section. I've sent them such notices on an irregular basis and, to the best of my knowledge, they've always been published. Typically, they read like this:

St. Pascal Baylon School - Memories & Reunion website at www.PascalAlumni-NYC.net invites you reconnect with former classmates. Call [phone number] or Email _ _ _ "at" pascalalumni-nyc.net if you want info, or have a nun, neighborhood or class photo to share with the world.

There was some resistance on one or more occasions when it was pointed out that the Milestones column is actually for planned reunions, not websites that help bring folks together. I am grateful for Newsday's past generosity, but they will no longer publish our notes; however, I was informed that the SPB Classmates site may be mentioned within a notice of an actual upcoming reunion. That being the case, I urge anyone availing themselves of Newsday's free service to announce an upcoming SPB reunion to include a line such as:

"Additional details at PascalAlumni-NYC.net"
or
"Additional details at groups.yahoo.com/group/pascalalumni-nyc"

As I have mentioned before, if you will send information about planned reunions to me, I will be happy to post them on this site. Obviously, the more lead time you can give, the better. And, of course, you can post them at groups.yahoo.com/group/pascalalumni-nyc as soon as you start planning your event.

Send reunions notices to Newsday at:

Newsday Media Group
Milestones
235 Pinelawn Road
Melville, NY 11747

Needless to say, if you can think of any other way of spreading the word about this site or the forum, please send me an email and let me know.

Best wishes,
Frank

SPB coffee mug Sister Mary Robusta says, "Stand up straight and let them know you went to St. Pascal Baylon! Wear those St. Pascal Classmate hats and shirts with PRIDE. And don't slouch while drinking from that swell SPB mug"!
