For my part, I am gainfully employed for the first time in... well, let's not dwell on details. Suffice to say, now a part-time federal agent sworn to defend my country, I am paid to hunt out and count those who would rather remain countless.

Throwing all dignity to the wind, I lurk about at doorways, forcing myself to muse up strategems to get into the buildings - inasmuch as the silent majority of unpatriots steadfastly refuse to buzz me in.

Will I ever create again? The $18.50 per hour swings the pendulum far from brush, paint pot and youthful dreams...

No matter - my mind is focused. I have a sackful of shortforms and the night looms ahead.
